Vinyasa yoga is usually understood as a sequence of poses or a flow where the movement is synchronised with the breath (cf. Rea 2012). The asanas (=poses) are often similar to the ones in an Ashtanga yoga class with the difference that a Vinyasa class does not follow a fixed sequence. Vinyasa yoga is more flexible and allows for changes in poses and for the creation of new “flows” (cf. CorePower Yoga).
